plantters Posted Wednesday at 16:32 Share Posted Wednesday at 16:32 Just stated a grow using my old Alien system, done a few before and most went without disasters, had a couple close to the wind but all ended well. Started this one a few weeks back and the seeds popped well but now getting leaf discolouration. Using General Hydroponics three part, now called something else but same product as per feed chart below, including the silicone and silver bullets. Not adding any Cal, Mag as in hard water and assume, as i have done before, that those two will be in the base water anyway. Everything seemed to be going well, top feed, good temp and PH and running 12DLI first week. Now into second week and I'm getting some discoloration on the plants, one in particular but all a bit mottled. Pics of set up below along with plants as of last night. Last plant pic is the one that stands out with the yellowing on one side of veins. Still topfeeding, 15 mins on 60 mins off but roots now down into pot nutrients so will cut top feed at next nute change Any input gratefully recieved. Cheers

stu914 Posted Wednesday at 19:43 Share Posted Wednesday at 19:43 The red petioles makes me think something to do with the roots, either res temps or ph?
Gsyrup Posted Wednesday at 20:46 Share Posted Wednesday at 20:46 Too cold (lights on and off) or you've got the start of imbalance because of your hard water - are you using the hard water variant of the three part? Its the micro part iirc. I would suspect its too cool though, 25c air temps under LED is like 20/21c LST temps which is way too cool for effective photosynthesis. Regardless of the oxygen in the pot, if you're not keeping the pump (transpiration) pumping then they're going to fast start looking not very well.

Never had an issue before at these temps. PH steady between 5.9 and 6.1 Edited Thursday at 11:34 by plantters

Lights on air temp is 27, shown 25 as I had just been in with door open. Yes, using hard water varient as have always done. will up the temps to 30 or so see what gives then, night time? Stay at 25?

plantters
@stu914 @Shumroom @Gsyrup @sepsisurvivor Thanks for all the input guys, appreciated as always. What a difference a few days makes, a few tweaks here and there and everything in the garden looking a lot rosier! So took a look at all the environmental conditions and made a couple of changes. Up the temp to 30 lights on, 25 lights off. Also reduced the humidity to 50-55% as i was thinking that maybe the girls were taking more out of the humid air than they were taking out of the nutes in the pots.... Discolouration on the one that looked a bit off almost disappeared with the yellowish one sided leaves coming back to a nice green and overall healthier looking plants. Changed the nutes this weekend so will be interesting to see how they behave over the next week. Here they are now, pictures taken on day 21 from sprouting. First pic is the discoloured plant where you can still see a faint trace of the lighter edges on the leaves closest but all in all very happy with the improvements Thanks again all for your input.
