Shumroom
One thing I’ve learned from the garden growers is that Lilies are great for a bit of cover smell. Get a mixture of types with different flowering times @OldFord and @CustardVape will be able to share what they plant in their gardens Atb
Military Grade
Avoid Lilies if you own a cat, if one grain of pollen gets into their digestives system can be fatal.
stu914
My mum won't have lillies anywhere in the house or garden, she reckons they're the "Death Plant"...I assume it's because they're often placed on coffins... (That's a human coffin, not a cat's...) There now, that's lightened the mood... @sepsisurvivor Good luck with the project mate, nice to be able to start from scratch and get everything as you want it. Can't offer much advice about plant types but if you want instant cover then large pots with plants already established in them is what I'd go for. atb 2
OldFord
3 cats that live in the lily pots and have done for over a decade ...some say dont mix cats & lilies ...your shout man. Oriental lilies by far is the best smell defense i have found to date , i literally have hundreds , stagger the bulb planting to ensure your covered during herb flowering. Roses , lilies , honeysuckle. , szechuan peppercorns. , basically any form of smelly plant ....even voodoo lilies ! The lilies have a deep hum and a top sweet note so all weed smells are covered.
stu914
This might sound strange but I've never been able to dissect smells or tastes. I get the faintest whiff of most things but they're just 'smells' Exactly what they are I've no idea most of the time. Same goes for food, I can tell sweet, sour, savoury etc but have no sense of the various herbs and spices in the dishes...when people refer to...'top notes'... I haven't got a clue...Envious of those who can though...

OldFord
Bass cat can destroy the cat mint faster than i can grow the feckin stuff i have it everywhere and its amazing ! 5 mins of beating & eating it. , 10 mins of being wrecked !! Followed by a long snooze in the closest big pot ...normally one of mines Hence never having any lower fluff on my plants as the cat cleans it for me
