Using rockwool cubes that were pre-soaked 2 days ago....

Recommended Posts

Greetings. Is it a problem to use cubes for cuttings that were soaked in pH 5.5 solution but a couple of days ago, or do I need to use freshly soaked new ones. I'm taking the cuts today.

Sorry for the possibly stupid question and thanks for any replies 🙂

I never bother with soaking them in PH'd solution.

Just run under tap water to soak them and then shake out most of the water, make a slightly bigger/deeper hole and pop them in.

All done. 👍

I'd just re-soak the original cubes in 5.5 solution prior to use.

Gentle squeeze to remove 10% ish of the water content without damaging the internal structure of the block.

Thanks for the replies. In the end I used them without re-soaking them.

The cuttings are at present 12 hours old and are wilting unfortunately😬. Ive halved the amount of light they were getting and am keeping my fingers crossed they'll pick up.

Cheers

What have you got them in? You need a propagator with no holes in the base or a plastic bag with a sealable top.
