Mad Barry
Really like the leaf shape on the freak show because it’s something which compliments the guerrilla ethos. Looks different to typical Canna leaves and the leaflet gaps must increase airflow to the inner plant structure hugely. All the best 3
Crow River
@Mad Barry cheers mate. Yeah, I have high hopes for this strain. Only problem is it's not an early finisher. There is a Fast Version called Supa Freak, but at about twenty notes a bean I have put that one off for a while. Waiting on a strain which is a back cross of Supa Freak x Freakshow, is on its way in the post as I write. Might be slightly earlier to flower, I'm going to give it a try anyway.
Crow River
Today I potted up the Freakshow, as she has successfully rooted out her noodle pot. Starting to get a bit bigger now. Next pot up will be the Frisian Duck S1 clone, as she's growing quite tall.
Crow River
Today I topped the Frisian Duck S1 clone, and potted her up as she had rooted out her current pot. Hopefully she'll bush out a bit now. I will try to root the top and make a clone, which I'll keep as a mum indoors over the winter. The girl is showing pre-flowers so I will need to keep the cutting on a suitable light schedule now. The Freakshow has grown a bit after a somewhat slow start, both she and the Frisian Duck got some grow nutes for a bit of a boost.
Crow River
Popped in briefly to check on the girls this afternoon. They've had some nice sunshine the past few days, which has now disappeared behind cloud, but I can see it's done them some good. The Frisian Duck S1 clone has barely noticed her topping and repotting, she's just growing happily, getting a bit bushier. The Freakshow is coming on steadily, she's at five true nodes now so will also be topped soon. Again I'll try to root the cut and make a mum to keep over the winter.
Crow River
The two mutant girls in the polytunnel are doing okay despite the current cold spell. Growth has maybe slowed a bit, but they are still growing. Today I decided to top the Freakshow as she has reached six nodes, and I want to make a backup (assuming the top roots successfully).
Crow River
Went to see the girls this evening, to see if they were ready to pot up. Both seem to have grown: the Frisian Duck is incredibly vigorous as usual, the Freakshow taking her time as usual. On tipping them out of their pots, The Frisian Duck had completely rooted hers out, and the Freakshow was not far off either. Maybe she's been quietly building her root system ready to explode.....I can but hope. I took inspiration from @badbillybob and used mop/cleaning buckets. These 10 litre ones from Home Bargains are ideal, and available for much cheapness. Added some drainage holes, and voila, sturdy pots complete with carrying handles. Anyway, some photos of the girls, before and after potting up.
Crow River
The Freakshow cutting which I've been trying to root seems to be dying. I'll give it a bit longer obviously, but not looking good so far. In contrast the two Frisian Duck cuts are doing fine, looks like they have both rooted. Maybe I've got too used to vigorous strains that clone easily, Freakshow seems a slow grower, and presumably slow or difficult to root a cut too. The main plant handled lower temperatures okay though. The clones are in small propagators by the window, with supplemental lighting at night to stop them flowering. Not ideal, but it usually works fine. Once I (finally) have my indoor setup moved and operational, I'll pop some "fast version" Freakshow beans and the adventure will continue...
Crow River
I have moved the Freakshow to a different, smaller plastic greenhouse which she's sharing with some vine tomatoes. She has some new leaves growing from just below where she was topped, but still a very slow girl. I added a slug collar too after taking the photo below, as she's closer to the ground than before. The Frisian Duck S1 clone is still going full steam ahead, seems to be enjoying a bit more root space in her bigger pot. No sign of flowering yet, surely will be sometime soon...?

Crow River
Wee update on the two mutant girls, as they have both been moved from the polytunnel to smaller greenhouses to keep them a bit cosier now it's autumn. The Freakshow is still a bit slow, but a new set of leaves are gradually getting bigger. No sign of flowering as yet, she looks healthy enough though. I understand this strain is mostly sativa, so it might be Christmas before she finishes... If she's still not flowering by say mid-October I might take her home and sit her by the window instead. The Frisian Duck S1 clone is still vigorous, but her growth has maybe slowed slightly. She is getting some pink/purple stems at the tops, it's possible she may be about to flower. Not before time, as we passed 12/12 nearly a week ago. Headroom is limited in her new lodgings, so if she starts to stretch I may have to restrain vertical growth with some tying down of branches.
