They have plenty of other legal and illegal uses, I used them for various pirate radio related stuff back in the day...

I never scanned around the 900mhz range when mobile phones were analogue

My old man used to have another radio that looked similar but a different brand, can't remember what it was tho, I only remembered the Realistic one thanks to @Themadhippy mentioning it 👍

It was never the old bill, I think you mean the DTI? And the Post Office (!) 'Busby vans' before them? (before my time of course lol )

We had a scanner way back in 90’s . Was doing a squat party in the old Stratford crown court and had a yard and buildings next door also . The police came down heavy shut the party down. A mate was using the scanner to listen and had it playing through speakers out a window in the squat next door The police wasn’t happy.
somehow a bucket of yard shit got tipped  out over two trufflehunters and the car they had parked  in the entrance with a room above  lol . All we heard on speakers was “ Sarge think we been covered in shit “  lol

@latigid aikon no it was the place we lived in next door to the courthouse. We got run out of the crown court lol

Sounds like the halfway house in the town I grew up in. Across the road from the Nick. Best place to score Slate Rocky & Whizz. They had a mad ass party everything/one got covered in car paint. The people staying there heated their rooms with Baby Bellings and leaving the door open.
