It sure is getting rougher out there for growers on both sides of the equator. Used to be just bunny cages and hope for the best, now it's bunny cages, deer fences, pegs, beefy stakes, rubber ties...

Gotta say that anyone growing multi topped bushes will most likely need to erect scaffolding from now on. We've all had mad winds in the past, but I think we're all in for a shock this year. Hopefully my fears are proved wrong. :yep:

Xmas tree shaped plants - 6' Bamboo down the centre - add possible bracing, like a 45 degree stake is probably the best we can do. I'm planting fewer this year, so plan to really protect them from wind attacks. :D

What so only 500 hunna SLIP not the usual 1k :smokin:

I use forked sticks cut from saplings at whatever length is needed placed at a 45 degree angle  stab it into the ground and electric tape the forked end to the main stem usually three in the shape of a tripod will work but have used more I will tie branches off to them for support when they get heavy with buds plus they are free stash them near the plot and you can use them for several years

yes.. i agree..due to global warming in last 20 years....there is more heat so more power/force in the atmosphere...so ... more extreme weather in summer......resulting in...

- longer dry periods

- but if there is rain...more rain and more wind in the rain storms.....and possilble hail in bigger sizes...

Yes mate as much of the native soil i can dig out from nearby there's none at the plot itself so a bit of a pain its nearly all stone.

I have saved myself some work though in that i think there's about 10 large pots i can empty into it already at plot from last season.

Even with them though and the 80L of coco i still reckon i will need 5/6 bags of compo plus a shed load of native soil(lots of digging) my pot is nearly twice the size of the 420 comp pot.

Only been back once for a tidy up and chop a couple of trees got a couple more i want to trim and get some ferts down in the bed so another visit due soon.

I have a water source nearby but its still a pain walking back and fore with 10L in 2 watering cans plus it dried up at some point last year because of the lack of rain.

I was thinking maybe a fold up water butt and a cheap dripper system for the pot but might try that out in my greenhouse this year before spending more on the plot.

My advice would be use at least 50% native and the other made up with compo coco and amendments.

Oh and u will need more buckets. lol

Had a great day yesterday crawling about in the bushes again. Now back up to full strength after recovering from the covid. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t excited about this coming season. It’s good to feel a high level of passion about something again. I already spend as much time as I can in nature, now giving this another go again just adds a whole extra dimension to what I was doing already.

Gratitude to all the great contributors to the Guerrilla section. I’m not really that interested in the rest of the site tbh. I’ve been reading back through the years on here and it’s been both informative and entertaining to say the least, to read about others outdoor shenanigans. Definitely some right old characters been through here haha

Check out some recent diarys youl be spoilt for choice.

Find out your lat and try find people that share your lat then choose what seeds have been tried and tested in your geographic location.

All else fails look at the breeders section and figure out what might be best for you.

@Skunkman.uk Pretty much anything from RGSCs outdoor collection is really good. I'm also a big fan of the nordic genetics like hybrids from hell, derg kora seeds etc.

Purple Haze, outdoor in the uk? Pull the other one lol isn't it like a 20 week flowerer?

I ran a strain marketed as ‘Original Haze’ indoors some time ago. That was 14 weeks flower.

It had loads of long Stigma (hairs), so much so that you would end up with piles of them at the bottom of a baggie. You’d end up making joints comprised of pure hairs by the the time you got to the end of the bag. Never seen Ganga as hairy as that before… flowering was way too long tho

Right …

I’ve gone strain crazy

prob got too many already

but what I’d love to know is..

what strains tend to grow short for stealth, with not much stretch, good yield and are good for the UK?

So far during the winter I experimented running Whitey Freeze, Royal Mazar, Mighty Gold Bx 1, Purple Freeze Bx1, DFG Bx1, Tropicana Poison Fv, Red Mandarine Fv indoors..

Have to say i’m impressed with Whitey Freeze. From x3 seeds x2 Auto’d before even entering into flowering hours. But they were chunky jagged, stocky, nasty looking little fuckers that grew about a foot and a half tall and yielded quite good for their size plus had nice tight nugs… the other x1 seed didn’t auto and I’ve continued it in cutting form. I cut it down a couple of days ago. Still remained short and got another x2 cuttings just entered flowering also very thick stem with chunky growth. The one I just cut down finished in 6 weeks so I’d class it as a fast version to.

so pretty impressed with those. Will be running cuts outside plus got a few more packs of it.

Royal Mazar grows medium short. And stretches a lot more compared to the freeze…the Freeze doesn’t stretch at all really when going into flower

Got a pack of UEL regs I’m not sure what I’m gonna do with yet. I’m under the impression they grow short too?

Any suggestions for really good short strains ? Mighty Freeze, Green Gold BX1 and Gorrila Dawg look like possible contenders

now I know already any strain will finish short if you grow it as late plant out or apply LST etc. but I’m interested in them shorty genetics that yield good etc… still yet to see how the Whitey fairs with the mould as the nugs are very tight so will have to keep watch to avoid a mould festival if poss…

Im also gonna run Green Poison FV. Do they tend to be medium short ?

I got places where I plan to run taller plants to.. where I will be employing = Serious 6, Serious 7, DFG Bx1, Essex Gold and if I can fit em in Fast Zkittkez…

My medium tall zones will be Purple Freeze BX1, Malawi x Northern Lights x DFG, Tropicana Poison FV (Got x1 Pheno that is short), Red Manderine FV

Think that’s it..

Looking photo / semi auto really

Ahhh only auto I’m planning to have a bash at will be GSC Auto and a freebie Cheese XXL freebie from Dinafem

MWF looked like a shorty contender but that one’s not available

As you can see I’ve ermm got a bit of a strain addiction problem

let’s see how things go
