I am just wondering is it somewhat common to get tri-cotyledons? This is my first plant that has done so with 3 cotyledons instead of 2 , and also 3 sets of all other leaves so far instead of 2.

Yea mate, seems more common nowa days for some reason, i got a affie that has trifoliate leafs which means more secondary branches=more bud sites.

I was wondering if anyone knows if triploid and trifoliate are the same, was looking on google and noticed 2 different words to describe the same thing?...confused lol.

Yes same thing i always called them trifoliate, but heard people using triploid for the same thing.

Strange to me as a triploid is a trout that comes from an egg that was heat treated to stop it having a sex therefore growing faster and not needing a closed season for fishing purposes.

I really dont have a clue but read that triploid in plants means that if you have a female plant and tried to pollinate it it wont bare seeds because its infertile to produce them so only flowers.

This was from a quick read about triploid, they use in mangos and watermelons so the fruit has no seeds in them or some shit, quite interesting to read.

Triploid refers to the amountof sets of chromosomes in the plants (or animals). Triploid = 3 sets diploid = 2 tetraploid = 4 sets. Higher sets of chromosomes contain more genetic material for breeding however triploids usually turn out sterile.

Do you mean sterile as in wont make seeds?

So my thinking is if you had a triploid weed plant and grown in Morocco for example were there is male pollen floating around every where, your triploid plant wont be seeded?

I need to read more about this seems quite complicated lol.

I've no idea about cannabis but many plants naturally have more than two sets of chromosomes (polyploid).

Triploid plants, whether natural or induced are not necessarily sterile either. Apples, oranges and bananas are all triploid.

Interestingly, induced polyploidy is actually used to make some sterile crop hybrids fertile again.
