Looking For TV Series Suggestions

I gave up on Sons of Anarchy when they brought in the nonsensical IRA stuff. I mean the plot was ludicrous, but the whole show was pretty fucking silly so I could cope with that, what I couldn't cope with was the "Irish." character's accents. I kept expecting one of them to go "They're after me lucky charms." lol

Just started watching A Very British Coup on the Channel 4 streaming thingy (unlike ITV and the BBC they don't seem to have put their old stuff behind the 'Britbox' pay wall - that ITV have done so is neither here nor there to me, there's very little on ITV I ever want to watch and they are a commercial network, but for the BBC to have done so is well out of order - the license fee paid for all of their programmes, what right to they have to team up with ITV and put them behind a pay wall :nea: but I digress), I remember watching it when it was on, but that was way back in 1988 when I was a teenager. I'm interested to see it now, especially given what happened with Corbyn (OK, so he didn't get to be PM, but that's because he was smeared and destroyed by an establishment terrified of 'socialism' so I think there are parallels).

As well as a Labour Party which is still terrified of Socialism, it seems.

Cheers :smokin:

DEVS on iPlayer, very good, recommended.

Just sucked it all up last night,  Very good.  It fudges the science a bit and the very best science fiction doesn't do that, even if the science doesn't turn out the way the writer predicts (from the prevailing science at the time the writer wrote their story).  But forgiving this little fault the vast majority of viewers wont realise the science has been subverted, so does it really matter that much.

Just starting to re-watch Green Wing on the channel 4 streaming thingy. Thought it was fucking brilliant, proper bonkers original comedy, absurd and often laugh out loud funny when it was first on telly and I've not seen it since :) I'll see how it measures up to how I remember it :)

i never could see the funny side of that series and i used to hate it when my friend would ask is i'd seen it then proceed to tell me bits that just were not funny lol  same goes for the mrs browns boys, wtf?

as for the tiger king, i thought it was entertaining enough, but the last "bonus episode" was just a kind of review so they are just cashing in there.

Man, don't mention them in the same breath lol Green Wing is absurdity, just silly stuff that either makes you laugh or it doesn't. Mrs Brown's Boys is just crude, childish, unfunny shit.

it's all the same to me lol

mbb's makes some people laugh, but not me.

i'm pretty critical of absurdist comedy, like yourself i love the time sketch on the goons show, insanely absurd but very clever at the same time, so when people try doing absurdist comedy without the clever bit i just groan as it never works imho

Fair enough :) I think there's a vast difference between them even given your (perfectly reasonable) dislike of Green Wing. Mrs Brown's Boys is (in my opinion) just gratuitously rude, it's like a 5 year old child telling poo jokes, it's a different level of funny/unfunny to the absurdity of Green Wing.
