Multiverses: Stoned Questions

Hi, I'm high.

I was watching Star Trek (in fact I have paused it in case I'd forget this) and had some philosophical questions about the theory of multiverses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Multiverse).

This is "multiverses" with the theory that each event has an infinite possible number of outcomes, and there are an infinite number of universes in our multiverse.

1. Is it morally acceptable to harm someone because this is "just one of many universes, and I'd have done this or not done it an infinite number of times anyway", or as this is "one universe of particular circumstances and whatever I do is blatantly fate".

2. If there are an infinite number of universe, does that imply fate of our own?

3. Should one necessarily be angry at someone for doing something - they can't help it, they're the possible outcome of that event in this universe - it was bound to happen in one universe at some point, given that there are infinitely many with that event and there are infinite many possible events.

// Ignore this one for now, will complete when I remember what it was

4. When we predict the future, as in ("I'm not going to do X, so Y won't happen"), does it really seem probable that our own consciousness is always one that is part of a universe where what you predict will happen, happens? There are an infinite number of universes in our multiverse, and infinite many versions of "us" - how comes we're so consistently

5. If what we do leads to the outcomes that our universe experiences, does that mean that we control this universe? Are we traversing various different universes for every particular event - as if the multiverse is like a infinitary tree structure? In which case, are we not therefore able to be aware of traversing different universes? In which case, what are the chances that we never traverse into the same universe, EVER, as someone else who is traversing universes from a different path through their decisions, and recalls a completely different history to you, having followed one of infinitely many previous universe paths?

Will edit this post as more memories come thru the post.

Cheers

Assuming that the multiverse theory is true, everyone is still responsible for their own actions in a specific universe. Whether or not each and every choice is acted out in its own universe, in any given universe you still made the choice that led to that universe, so you are still responsible for it and morality still applies.
