For what it's worth:

  1. System: Socialism
  2. Ideology: International Socialism

  3. Party: No match.
  4. Presidents: Jimmy Carter

  5. 04' Election: David Cobb

  6. 08' Election: Dennis Kucinich

Of the 565,774 respondents (10,122 on Facebook):

  1. 3% are close to you.
  2. 91% are more conservative.
  3. 1% are more liberal.
  4. 1% are more socialist
  5. 2% are more authoritarian

Edit: break links

It's a bit of a simplistic quiz though, and somewhat suspicious because I lean towards libertarian socialism, hence I am at the opposite end of authoritarianism...

They are very political people indeed, but they don't see it because politics is disguised as 'life'.

Most of us are inherently political, but the majority of us don't realise it because the most common mis-definition of politics we seem to have is something like this: "the guy in the bland suit who represents business interests arguing against the guy in the bland suit who represents business interests."

Exactly, Eddie. Nicely put. :yep:

politics is how things should be

agenda/persuasion/submission

Humans want and need things this may include wanting others to come along with them. Humans are selfish they may use cruel forms of persuasion to get what they want, if they want it badly enough. The result is usually subdued humans.

I used to love the left right thing too.

I'll have a go.

My definition of politician.

A politician is a man who plays a game. The game involves many millions of lives. It involves huge amounts of power, immunity from any criminal prosecutions and at the worst the loss of your job and paying back of what you've stolen.... oh, and an apology. Politicians and politics are the main factors that get in the way of real progress being made in a society. They're a figurehead for a wider, less visible structure of power. Politics is red tape and politicians are the ones who create the red tape. Politics complicates the issues. Politicians distort and fabricate truth. Politics is the main source of our pain. Politicians tell you what they think you want to hear. They tell you what they believe will resonate well with the people. Politics is a waste of money and time. Politics is a 30m wide, steel reinforced granite wall standing in the way of real progress for society and the world. Politics is a fake form of power, apparently elected and freely chosen. Which technically it is, but in reality it's not. Politicians use politics as the vehicle to enslave whole countries legally. Umm, where ever you find politics, in all the sports and all through society, you will find brick walls in the way of proper progress. There you will find a power structure controlling things through the politics. But then I do have an extreme problem with politics and politicians. Fuck them all. Some shit could be sorted out with a single phonecall if politics wasn't in the way. Politicians are a bunch of sly cunts to put it lightly. Although, to be fair, one or two aren't so bad but to keep their jobs they tow the line. Which then makes them as bad as the rest for playing the game.

To sum it up in a sentence. Politics is fucking useless. We need leaders, not politicians. Leaders we trust to make the right decisions for us.

I'm slap bang in the middle of the libertarian left of the political compass

As for a definition: The act or art of governing or coercing a group of people in to following law or policy enacted by a governing body based on doctrine. But that's a bit long winded, so I'll go with Bartman's answer.
