Galahad
I like the phrase "enlightened self interest". A thought to ponder "I used to want to save the world, then I realised God was listening and helping me by creating a world that needed saving." Guest roger
"I used to want to save the world, then I realised God was listening and helping me by creating a world that needed saving." So all of that bit with the snake, apple and garden of eden was god doing us a favor by encouraging (wo)man to develop some moral fiber? I'd suggest that an omniscient god ought to have seen that one comming, maybe put a fence around the tree or something... That was an example that prohibition doesn't work I think it was Alan Partridge that said something along the lines of he would have been more concerned about a talking snake, whether or not he ate an apple would have been a side issue, even if the snake just motioned its head towards the apple it would have been somewhat perturbing. I always make sure I give money to the Sally Army or stop the car if I see someone that appears homeless and pop a £20 in their hand then when I question why I did it the only reason I can come up with is I wanted to make myself feel better.
