dingo bingo
Ive done everything explained and I still can not get it to work. How is the file installed? If I doubleclick it, IE comes up and says; "The XML page cannot be displayed Cannot view XML input using XSL style sheet. Please correct the error and then click the Refresh button, or try again later. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A string literal was expected, but no opening quote character was found. Error processing resource 'file:///C:/Program File... <p style="margin:0px;"><img src=/logo.gif border=0> --------------------------------^" What am I doing wrong? I really wanna look up stuff about pc fans on here.

Scribb|e
Hmm, seems like the ZIP file attached to the 1st post contains a version of the XML file that has become corrupted, somehow. uk420.xml.zip <- Here is a known good copy, just unZIP and follow the instructions I gave in the 1st post in this thread. ...just copy and paste the (unZIPped XML) file into the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins directory, in Linux (Ubuntu/Debian, anyway, I'm sure that most other distros will be the same) paste into /usr/lib/firefox/searchplugins. Pure
Fantastic Plug in scribble If anyone is interested i have a firefox plugin that will do the search using the invision search as appose to google. Depending what version of invision this place runs they may require a small modification to the search to allow both POST and GET to work properly. Just an offer , I made one of the Google plugins some time ago but found people where a little cautious using it after Google made it clear they record unusual searches and are happy to hand over that information with little to no push . Like one man who was convicted of Killing his wife about two years ago some of the most damning evidence was given forward by Google he had searched for things like " disposing of human body parts " etc First Example Seccond Example so needless to say use a proxy for google Edited July 19, 2008 by Pure
Scribb|e
Thanks, Pure. I really wouldn't bother with the Invision board search plugin - the inbuilt search function sucks mighty donkey balls - that's really the main reason I wrote the UK420 Google search plugin. For anyone who's paranoid about using Google to search UK420 (and this is being mightily paranoid, IMO ), I have written one that uses Scroogle instead (which scrapes Google for their searches, and they don't keep search-term records and delete all their access logs within 48 hours) - even better it uses Scroogle's SSL (https) interface so that all search queries will be encrypted as well, so not even your ISP will be able to monitor any searches you make while using it. :!: You can get it here - UK420_Scroogle_SSL.zip Same installation instructions apply as with my original Google one: Windows users, just copy and paste the file into the C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\searchplugins directory. Linux Firefox users should paste into /usr/lib/firefox/searchplugins Linux Swiftweasel3 (a totally FOSS build of Firefox, optimised for your specific processor architecture) users should unzip it into /usr/local/swiftweasel3/searchplugins On Mac OSX, it should be one of the following paths: /Applications/Firefox.app/Contents/MacOS/searchplugins or /Applications/Mozilla.app/Contents/MacOS/searchplugins I'll see if Joolz will edit the FP in this thread to include the new UK420 Scroogle SSL search plugin. As always, if anyone has any problems or questions, don't hesitate to post them in this thread. Edited July 19, 2008 by Scribb|e
Pure
a very nice idea indeed scribble :fuckyou: I agree that those worried about using google are probably taking their concerns a little far HOWEVER those people can't really be told they are "wrong" to think that way because Google has proven many times over that your searches are NOT private , they do record massive amounts of information and flag strange searches, so long as you know these things your not likely to type " how to kill my wife" etc into google. Every single example I have found where Google has been a murder, attempted murder etc it hasn't been anything drug related and personally i don't believe they will turn their sites in that direction any time soon. If it was that easy they would most certainly target and try to put an end to snuff servers and piracy which are frankly much larger issues on a global scale
